Episcopal Eagles are off to a great start. It looks like Episcopal is the overall winner of the Stanton Invitational. We won first in almost every race. For those of you that missed it, we had beautiful weather, super parent turnout, and the kids rowed STRONG!! There were a few pieces of clothing left behind. These items were brought back to the boathouse. Anything not claimed was put in the Lost & Found bin in the Boathouse. Please take a look or have the kids look to see if they are missing anything. There was a unisuit, shoes, and socks left with no name. There were also three chairs left behind. They are currently on the trailer.
Mike Sievert created a few videos of our races from last week's regatta. You can find them under the jacksonvilleepiscopalrowing.com website under videos or on Facebook under ESJ Rowing.

Hi. States just released the signup genius to volunteer for States. Each team must have one volunteer per race entry. We are looking for 10 volunteers. The best spots are already going quickly. Please sign up if you can help. Coach Alton mentioned that Fridays are really easy, if you will be going down that early. Please email me after you sign up, so we can keep track of our numbers. Thanks you for all you do.
Each volunteer will be provided with a park t-shirt, drinks, and food while volunteering
It has been a tradition that the Friday night of the City Championship, one family hosts the upper school boat pasta dinner at their house. This year the dinner would be Friday, March 31. We are looking for someone who lives in the Ortega area to host. The kids will be coming directly from a special practice at the Ortega site. We provide all of the food and help, you would just need to be able to seat 95 kids. Last year the Commander's hosted it and it was wonderful. If you are interested, please let me know.
You may have noticed that the greeting was changed from "upper school and middle school kids rowing up" to simply "upper boat". Referencing middle school confused a few people. From now on, "upper boat" refers to every rower rowing on an upper boat no matter what grade they are in.
Location & Parking:
Home matches are on the Ortega River behind St. Peters Episcopal Church at 5042 Timuquana Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32210. The address is located on our schedule on our rowing website. You can click on the address on the website and it will pull up the directions.
There are two parking lots. One is right next to the church and it is $10 to park. Across the street it is $10 up front and $5 in the back. The money goes towards the church's youth group. If you leave, they will give you a pass to come back for free. There is a drop off in case you want to drop off your rower and come back later. Please DO NOT park in the drop off...
Thank you for making the 1st Annual Blessing of the Fleet successful. It was quite a scene with beautiful balloons by Blenda (say that 5 times fast), cool name tags by Carole, and delightful decorations from Laura Leigh. Pictures of the event can be found by clicking here.

There have been a number of questions regarding the hotels for the three travel regattas. Here's some additional information that may help.
Q: Are there rooms still available at the three hotels?
The OARS hotel in Orlando said that 14 of the 15 rooms in our block are booked. I am trying to add additional rooms. Please let me know if you still need a room. I will let you know if they become available.
The Sprint League hotel in Tampa has only one double queen room left in the block. I was able to add 5 standard King rooms for $165. I don't know if this is the best rate, but it's what they gave me.
State Sweeps in Tampa have no rooms left in our block or the hotel. The hotels book up fast here. If you plan to go to States, please book another hotel soon.
Q. Do we need to book hotel rooms for the kids?
A. No, The kids have a separate block of rooms. They'll ride down on the team bus. They...
