There are three travel regattas this season; OARS in Orlando, Sprint League Championship in Tampa, and State Sweeps Championship in Sarasota. If your child is an upper school rower or a middle school rower who moved up to an upper school boat and you are planning to attend the regattas, you will need to book your rooms NOW. The hotels fill up fast. You can always cancel, if you can't go. I was able to reserve a block of rooms at a discount at each hotel where the kids are staying. You do not have to stay at the same hotel.
For new parents, please note that you will probably never see your kids at the hotel. They are very busy with prepping for the regatta. They will probably be gone before you even get up. However, its nice because a lot of the families will be there. All of the rowers ride down together on the team bus to the regattas. At the end of the regatta, they can ride home with you....
Practice and training is progressing nicely and we will be getting on the water more frequently, beginning this week. I am hoping we are through the illnesses and able to be more consistent with the group. Please note the team sleepover this Friday at the boathouse.
Here is this weeks plan and pick up times. Please be prompt and also note that Middle School practice begins Tuesday at the Boathouse so pick up will be more crowded. Please form a line and text your child if you are on site.

Welcome to the 2017 ESJ Middle School Rowing season! Please join us in welcoming Coach Parkinson who is joining our rowing program by way of the UCF rowing program. An introductory e-mail just went out to all middle school rowing parents. If you did not receive an e-mail, make sure you let us know by clicking here and filling in your personal information at the bottom of the page. We'll make sure you're added to the e-mail list.
Race uniforms MUST be ordered before January 31st from Baker's Sports. Your middle school rower will need a long and short sleeve maroon t-shirt. Here's the link to the online store: Baker's Sports.
A regularly updated race schedule can be found and downloaded by going to the home page or clicking here. The calendar is subject to change so please watch for e-mails throughout the season with updates. Times for regattas are estimates and will be finalized closer to the event. Any weather cancellations will be sent out vi...
Uniform ordering information has gone out. If you haven't received the email, please let me know. Not sure what size unisuit your son needs? I am trying to put together a day after practice next week, that boys can try on a unisuit to determine what size to order. I am thinking Tuesday, if I can get together a few suits. Does anyone have a men's unisuit size extra small, small or medium, that a few boys can use for reference? Please email me directly at email@example.com, if you have a suit we can borrow or if you would like to meet Tuesday for your son to try on. I will follow up with parents I hear from, no need for a mass email.
Tired of wearing your kid's rowing shirts? Now we have custom t-shirts for the parents. The art work is in. We are working with Missy Hoyt on a lady's tank top, short sleeve, and long sleeve shirt. We will also offer a men's short sleeve and long sleeve shirt. Sorry, no tank tops guys. We will have three different designs. You can go to the order form by clicking here. The prices range from $15-18 each. Our goal is to have everything in before the first regatta.
Carole Daniel is working hard to find the coolest name tags at the best price for us. Hopefully, in the next week or two, we will start ordering name tags for all of the parents and grandparents that want one. More information to follow.
It's almost here. The 1st Annual ESJ Blessing of the Fleet is Saturday, Feb 4th from 11am - 1:30. Help kick-off the Episcopal Rowing season and witness the dedication of two new Vespoli VHP55 world class racing shells and the blessing of our entire fleet. Afterwards, we invite you to a great lunch while you mix and mingle with our coaches, rowing alumni, parents and student rowers. It should be a great kick off to an awesome season! Sticky Fingers will cater the event.
We currently have 134 rowers signed up for the 2017 spring season. Due to the large number of rowers and limited space we must limit the number of attendees to our rowers, immediate family, alumni and ESJ attendees. All middle school and upper school rowers are invited.
When you arrive on the 4th at the boathouse, we will give you your meal tickets. You can RSVP through the link below. Please include your rowers when purchasing. For planning purposes, p...
Hi rowing parents. Just a quick note. Please pick up your kids on time. The boathouse is different than ESJ regarding security. When practice lets out, the coaches have to stay until the last rower is picked up. Unfortunately with over 97 upper school rowers, there have been a number of days where a rower has been picked up 30-45 minutes late. If you find you're going to be more than a couple of minutes late, please see if there is another parent at pick-up who will let your child wait in their car so the coaches can go home. Coach Alton has sent out his practice schedule to the girls and Coach Washburn will dismiss the boys at 5:45PM. Thanks for your help and understanding.

Spring is here, no matter what it felt like yesterday. The boys, and there are a lot of them (52), are back and working very hard. At this point in the season, we will be erging on Tuesday and Thursday. On Monday and Wednesday, we will take a technique row followed by some body circuits. On Friday we will be very flexible with what we do, but will have practice. For the next few weeks, we will not be practicing on Saturday. Pick up time is 5:45. I will try very hard to have them ready to go at that time, and would appreciate it if you could pick them up by then.
Coach O'Keefe and I are very excited about this group and have been very pleased with all that they did in the fall and with the work that they are doing now. They are coming together as a team and we are getting ready to go racing.
